About the Hungry Jack's Mocha

A Jack's Cafe Mocha is $5.95 and 733 kJ. Espresso, chocolate and steamed milk, and it sits between a coffee and a hot chocolate on every measure.

The drink exists because coffee and chocolate genuinely belong together. Both are roasted, both carry bitter compounds, and the flavour notes overlap far more than most pairings do. A mocha is not a coffee with chocolate hidden in it; it is two things that reinforce each other.

Tips

  • Chocolate first, espresso onto it. Adding chocolate to a finished coffee leaves lumps at the bottom every time.
  • Real dark chocolate instead of powder is a genuine upgrade and takes no longer.
  • Do not oversweeten. The chocolate already brings sugar and the coffee needs to still register.
