Taking burgers to the next level with our Grill Masters range. Flame-grilled, thicker, juicier Aussie Angus beef placed on an Artisan Brioche bun. Then stacked high with Cheddar cheese, crispy bacon topped with a smoky BBQ sauce and pickles.
The Grill Masters Angus, Bacon & Cheese is $15.75 and 3,390 kJ. It is the entry point to the Grill Masters range, and the range exists for one reason: a thicker Angus patty on an artisan brioche bun rather than a standard patty on a sesame seed bun.
Angus is a cattle breed rather than a grade, and the practical difference is marbling. Fat running through the muscle rather than around it means the patty bastes itself as it cooks, which is why a Grill Masters patty can be made thicker without drying out. A standard patty at the same thickness would.
The numbers show what that thickness buys. Protein is 50.8g, which is nearly double a Whopper at 28.1g, while carbs sit at just 31.3g against the Whopper's 46.6g. Grill Masters burgers are meat forward and bread light, and the panel makes that obvious.
Natural cheese rather than processed is the other change, and it behaves differently. It melts less evenly and holds more flavour, so you taste cheese as a distinct thing rather than as a texture. Against double bacon and a thick patty it needs to be assertive to register at all.
The brioche bun is soft and slightly sweet, which is the right call under a heavy patty. A sesame seed bun would put crust against a dense burger and eat dry.
Who it suits: anyone who thinks the standard menu is too bread heavy, and anyone eating for protein. At $15.75 it is the cheapest way into the range.
Pair it with Thick Cut Chips at $3.45, or go up to the double at $19.40. The full Grill Masters menu is here.
One Grill Masters Angus, Bacon & Cheese is 39% of the 8,700 kJ average adult daily intake. Figures are per serve as published by Hungry Jack's.

A thick Angus patty needs a different technique from a thin smashed one: hard sear, then lower heat to finish, and a rest before it goes in the bun. Makes 2 servings.
Serve with thick cut chips. A Grill Masters burger is meat forward, so a starchy side balances it better than a salad would.

3,390 kJ, with 50.8g of protein and 1,242mg of sodium. Carbs are only 31.3g, well below a Whopper at 46.6g.

Angus is a cattle breed rather than a grade. The practical difference is marbling: fat runs through the muscle rather than around it, so a thicker patty can be cooked without drying out.
On protein, clearly: 50.8g against 28.1g. On carbs it is lower at 31.3g against 46.6g. The thicker patty justifying the price is a taste question, but the numbers are genuinely different.
