The Storm CADBURY FLAKE at Hungry Jack's is $6.75 and 2,330 kJ. Soft serve with crumbled Flake blended through it.
Flake behaves differently from a biscuit in soft serve. Where Oreo holds its texture and gives you something to bite, Flake is thin layers of chocolate that shatter and then start melting into the dairy. That means the texture changes as you eat it, from flakes at the start to a chocolate ripple by the end.
Better than Oreo depends on what you want from a dessert. Flake gives more chocolate flavour throughout; Oreo gives more texture at the end.
At 2,330 kJ it is marginally above the Oreo version at 2,380 kJ and well below the Biscoff Storm at 2,610 kJ.
Flake in ice cream is also a specifically British and Australian tradition, going back to the ninety nine cone with a Flake stuck in it. This is that idea blended through rather than pushed in the top.
Who it suits: anyone who wants chocolate flavour through the whole dessert rather than in pieces. It is the more chocolate forward of the two cheaper Storms.
Compare against the Storm OREO at the same price, or the Chocolate Sundae at $6.05.
